We need your help on the sea otter bill!!

OTTER02 small

A few weeks ago I posted the bad news that the Sea Otter Research and Recovery Act had been pulled from the floor before the vote. Well it’s coming back! We have been told that the bill is likely to get back on the calendar the week of the 27th–and it’s essential that we have enough support to get it passed. Under suspension caldander rules, this is a 2/3 majority vote.

We need help making sure it has that support!

There are a few ways you can help us:

1) Call your Representative’s office and tell them you want them to support this bill

2) Send a message to your Representative; you can do this easily on our Action Alert page, or send your own personalized message. You can find your Representative’s contact information easily at this directory.

3) Make some calls! We have a list of moderate Republicans whose vote is likely to make a big difference. If you want to make some calls, send me a message and I will let you know whose vote is the most important. You can contact me directly at allison at otterproject dot org.

4) Spread the word! The more Congress hears about sea otters, the more likely the bill is to pass.

Thank you!!

About Allison

I am the new Executive Director of The Otter Project in Monterey, California! Originally from the Bay Area, I went to school in San Diego, and came back north to Monterey for graduate school, where I found my calling: saving sea otters! Working for The Otter Project combines my passion for environmental policy with my love of animals. When not advocating for sea otters, I enjoy yoga, volunteer wildlife rehab, reading, and spending time with my cat Alyssa, who, for the record, I did not name. I have been with The Otter Project since November of 2007.
